Explore M.Tech in Chemical Engineering

The program is designed to provide a strong foundation in core chemical engineering while integrating applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning. It emphasizes industry-relevant research supported by hands-on project work, enabling students to engage effectively with real-world challenges. The program is open to Foreign and Indian nationals along with sponsored candidates with an intake capacity of 22 seats. The curriculum encourages interdisciplinary learning and collaboration across domains. It also offers a focused orientation towards energy, environmental, and sustainability systems, aligned with emerging global and industrial needs.

The program is open to Indian and foreign nationals, as well as sponsored candidates.

Explore M.Tech in Petroleum Engineering

A specialized program with advanced, industry-aligned curriculum and AI/ML applications in energy. The program is open to Foreign and Indian nationals along with sponsored candidates with an intake capacity of 20 seats. The objective of this program is to provide advanced education and training in the exploration, production, and management of hydrocarbon resources.

Eligibility Criteria

Chemical Engineering
For Indian Nationals (Regular Candidates) +
  • A 4-year B.Tech. or an equivalent degree in Chemical Engineering. /Chemical Technology/Bio-Chemical Engineering. /Biotechnology/Energy Engineering. /Petrochemical Engineering. /Electrochemical Engg. with a first class or minimum 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA (55% marks or 5.5 CGPA for SC/ST students) in the qualifying exam. In addition, the applicant must also have a valid GATE score
Sponsored & Self-Sponsored Categories +
Industry Sponsored Category:
  • A 4-year B.Tech. or equivalent degree in Chemical Engg./Chemical Technology/Bio-Chemical Engg./Biotechnology/Energy Engg./Petrochemical Engg./Electrochemical Engg. with minimum 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA (55% or 5.5 CGPA for SC/ST).
  • Candidate must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the sponsoring organization/industry at the time of interview.
  • Written exam/Interview will be conducted by the Department for shortlisting.
  • No stipend will be provided.
Self-Sponsored Category:
  • A 4-year B.Tech. or equivalent degree in Chemical Engg./Chemical Technology/Bio-Chemical Engg./Biotechnology/Energy Engg./Petrochemical Engg./Electrochemical Engg. with minimum 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA (55% or 5.5 CGPA for SC/ST).
  • Written exam/Interview will be conducted by the Department for shortlisting.
  • No stipend will be provided.
For Foreign Nationals +
  • 4-year bachelor's degree in chemical Engg./Chemical Technology/Bio-ChemicalEngg./Biotechnology/Energy Engg./Petrochemical Engg./ Electrochemical Engg., with a good academic record along with SOP, letters of reference and work experience.
  • For international students with UG degree from India a valid GATE score /online interview is also required. The Department/ School/ Centre may put additional requirements for admission.
Petroleum Engineering
For Indian Nationals (Regular Candidates) +
  • B.Tech./B.E. in Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, etc.
  • Minimum 60% or 6.0 CPI (55% for SC/ST)
  • Valid GATE score required
For Sponsored Candidates +
  • B.Tech./B.E. or M.Sc. (Geology/Geophysics)
  • Minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST)
  • NOC required from employer
For Foreign Nationals +
  • Relevant UG/PG degree with good academic record
  • SOP, references required
  • GATE or interview required

Selection Procedure

Candidates meeting the eligibility criteria are required to appear for an interview conducted by the department.

Note: No monthly stipend will be provided.

Starting an Application

Applicants are required to apply through online application portal only. Application fee (Non-refundable) is Rs.1000/- for Unreserved/OBC/EWS/Transgender candidates and Rs.500/- for SC/ST/PwD/Women candidates.

STEP-I: Fill in the ONLINE application form

Register with Your Email Id and Login. Fill in the appropriate data. Please note that you have to upload your testimonials wherever it is required to validate your information along with your digital photograph and signature.

STEP-II: Make PAYMENT and SUBMIT Application

Payment of application fee has to be made through online payment gateway only

STEP-III: Take PRINT

After final submission of your online application, you will be able to generate your online application print with your specific details/data. This application print may be retained with you for future requirement.

Please note that you NEED NOT SEND the application by post. Your application will be considered on the basis of your final submission through online. You can check submission, shortlisting, selection and other application related status from Application Status menu. You should remember your login id and password for the same.

Legal Jurisdiction

Visakhapatnam is the only Legal Jurisdiction for any dispute arising on the eve of admissions into IIPE. In case of disputes, Hon'ble High Court at Amaravathi, Andhra Pradesh is the legal jurisdiction.
